PIXEL PROMO is an IP studio carrying Japanese horror to the world by digital means.

Japanese horror frightens with quiet rather than darkness. It does not startle you with noise; it leaves a presence behind and lets you notice it. That instinct is a delicate thing to put into words, and it has rarely travelled well. PIXEL PROMO rebuilds it out of UEFN spatial design, fully voiced Japanese performance and branching stories, so that anyone, anywhere, can walk into it themselves.

Around thirty titles have been built to date, seven of which are currently live in Fortnite (UEFN), alongside two browser-playable sound novels. The work is already played across 87 countries and territories, and 51.7% of all playtime comes from outside Japan.

The studio is operated by Tokyo Defense Co., Ltd., founded in Shinagawa, Tokyo in 1984. PIXEL PROMO began as an internal venture inside a company that has run a real estate business for more than forty years, and grows its own IP over time rather than taking short-term contract work.
